Ice Hawks, Sharks win on Thursday
Jake Weikel scored his 26th goal of the season in a 2-1 win on Thursday.
Oklahoma City 15 @ Austin 1 – Ben Mullen had six assists and Aaron Best had a hat-trick and two assists as the Ice Hawks cruised to a 15-1 win on Thursday in Austin. The game was put away early as Oklahoma City scored five goals in the 1st period with two goals from Jakob Holley and others from Avery Pittman, Josiah Menger, and Garrett Conner, while Jaylen Mendez had the lone goal for the Ice Bats. The Ice Hawks scored seven more goals in the 2nd period as Best had a hat-trick, Brayden Leija had two goals, and Robby Rabroker and Daniel Flodman scored. In the 3rd period, goals from Samuel Lamphear, Grant Hanifen, and Richard Indermill completed the scoring. Garrett Johnson made 18 saves in the win, while Sebastian Skarzenski (31 saves) and Elias Kyrola (53 saves) combined in the loss.
Long Beach 2 @ New Jersey 1 – Long Beach took another step closer to securing home-ice advantage for the first round of the East Division Playoffs as they edged the Titans on Thursday, 2-1, which handed the Titans their 6th straight loss. Long Beach took a 1-0 lead in the 1st period thanks to a goal from Jake Weikel. The Sharks made it 2-0 in the 2nd period with a goal from Jack Fitzpatrick. Later in the 2nd period, New Jersey netted its lone goal from Jerame Kennedy. Greyson Skirpan made 20 saves in the win, while Donovan Alfama made 46 saves in the loss.
