Willmar defenseman Hosszu signs NAHL tender

The Willmar WarHawks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Jake Hosszu has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the St. Cloud Norsemen of the NAHL’s Central Division.

Hosszu, 20, just finished his second season of junior hockey. The 6’0/177 lbs. native of Woodbury, MN, had 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists) in 9 games this season for the WarHawks.

Prior to joining the WarHawks, Hosszu played 26 games for the Minnesota Magicians of the NAHL in 2021-22, recording 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists).

Hosszu also played 20 games in the NAHL during the 2020-21 season with the Northeast Generals, posting 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists). He finished the 2020-21 season with the Northeast Generals of the NA3HL, making a Fraser Cup appearance. 

"Jake was an excellent addition to our team at the deadline this year. He is a player who can really skate, plays with an edge, and has a lot of NAHL experience over the past two seasons. I think he will be a great addition to the Norsemen D-core next year,” stated WarHawks Head Coach Kirk Olimb.

The WarHawks congratulate Jake on his tender signing and wish him all the best as his hockey career continues to move forward.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2022 NAHL Draft.
