Granite City defenseman Greniuk signs NAHL tender

May 31, 2022

The Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Joe Greniuk has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Bismarck Bobcats of the NAHL’s Central Division.

Greniuk, 19, spent his first season of junior hockey between the NAHL and NA3HL. The 6’1/198 lbs. native of Elk River, MN, began the season in the NAHL with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, appearing in 26 regular season games and recording six points.

He then joined the Lumberjacks in the NA3HL after the USA Hockey trade deadline, where he made an instant impact, recording 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in eight regular season games. He also added two points in four Fraser Cup Playoff games.

He was also selected to and played in the 2022 NAHL 18U Top Prospects Tournament for the NA3HL team, where he had two points in four games played.

“We are happy to see Joe get another opportunity in the North American League. He’s a kid who has good vision and can let it fly from the point. We hope for all the success in Bismarck this upcoming season,” said Lumberjacks Associate Head Coach DJ Vold.

Greniuk is the 15th Jack from the 2021-22 team to have some sort of advancement to the NAHL. He is the 9th Jack to sign a tender in the North American Hockey League.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2022 NAHL Draft.
