Long Beach forward Richards makes college commitment

The Long Beach Sharks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Evan Richards has committed to play ACHA Division I hockey for the University of Utah.

Richards, 19, just completed his first season of junior hockey in the NA3HL, which was spent between the Sharks and the Yellowstone Quake.

The 6’1/165 lbs. native of Boulder, CO, began the season with the Quake, appearing in six games.

He then joined the Sharks in early October and played in 38 games during the regular season. Overall in 44 games, Richards recorded seven points.

“Evan is a player that could be plugged in anywhere in the lineup and played that role really well throughout the season.  Evan saw time both on offense and defense throughout the season. We always felt comfortable putting him into any role because they knew he would succeed,” said Sharks head coach Chris Lloyd.

“I have grown up playing hockey and am very excited to continue my career playing at the collegiate level,” said Richard.

“Evan is a hard-working forward that will add depth to our offensive core. He has high hockey IQ and can move the puck very well. He is strong in the corners and effective on the forecheck. We are very excited to welcome Evan to the Utah Hockey family,” said Utah Head Coach Morgan Feenie.
