Mustangs forward Adam Chapie announces NCAA DI commitment

October 28, 2011

The New Mexico Mustangs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce their latest college commitment.  Second-year Mustang forward Adam Chapie has officially signed to attend the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, a member of the NCAA Division I Hockey East Conference.

Chapie, 20, is originally from Oxford, Michigan and played last season for the Mustangs in their inaugural season.  He scored a respectable 34 points and was the only Mustangs player to appear in all 58 regular season games.

This season, Chapie has become the offensive leader for New Mexico, leading the team in scoring with 15 points (8g, 7a) in his first 14 games.  Heading into New Mexico's games this weekend in Texas against the Tornado, Chapie is riding a five-game goal streak.

New Mexico Governor Ken Dennis had the following to say about Chapie's commitment.  "The University of Massachusetts-Lowell is one of the elite academic and athletic institutions in the country.  Adam's dedication work ethic and skill make him one of the finest young men any team could ever have.
The Mustangs are thrilled to be a part of Adam's development and look forward to his continued success as he joins the River Hawks after the completion of his junior career as a Mustang."
