Friday Finals: Bruins shutout of Wings just one of many in NAHL

November 19, 2011

Aberdeen 0 @ Austin 2 - The Austin Bruins opened a weekend series with the Aberdeen Wings by recording a 2-0 win Friday night at Riverside Arena.  It was the second straight shutout for the Bruins. After a scoreless first period in the North American Hockey League game, the Bruins netted a goal in each of the final two periods for the home win.  Trevor Waldoch took care of the offense for the Bruins as he scored both goals on the night. Tyler Bruggeman got the shutout in goal for the Bruins with 22 saves on the night.  Bruggeman has now stopped a total of 52 shots in the two shutouts. Just when it looked like the Wings were about to take the lead on a breakaway one-timer, Bruggemen extended out to get his left arm on the puck and he sent it the other way. Jeremy Finger grabbed the loose puck skated up the ice, and got it to Trevor Waldoch, who slapped in a point blank look at the other end to make it 1-0 with 15:35 left in the second period.  Waldoch scored again in the 3rd period to ice the win for Austin.
