Mustangs defenseman Lichtenvoort signs NAHL tender
The Peoria Mustangs of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are happy to announce that defenseman Cody Lichtenvoort (Algonquin, Illinois) has signed a tender with the Michigan Warriors of the NAHL for the 2013-14 season.
This past season, the 17-year-old, lead all Peoria Mustangs defensemen with 30 points (11 goals and 19 assists) along with a +6 rating and 113 PIM. During the playoffs his pace of scoring increased with 5 points in 6 games (3 goals and 2 assists) along with a +2 rating. Cody’s 30 points put him in 5th place for defenseman scoring in the NA3HL.
This past weekend, Lichtenvoort played on Team Midwest at the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in Frisco, Texas, where he recorded two points in four games, helping Midwest claim the title.
Head Coach Jean-guy Trudel remarked, “Cody improved greatly this year especially in his defensive zone. He became a complete defenseman. We gave him a game plan and he came in day in day out with a smile on his face and a work ethic to go with it. We expect big things out of him this year at the NAHL level and we are very proud of him”.
The entire Peoria Mustangs organization congratulates Cody for earning this opportunity and wish him the best of luck with the Michigan Warriors.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which includes one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2013.
