Friday Finals: Bulls open defense with win

North Iowa Bulls 5 @ Granite City Lumberjacks 2: The defending USA Hockey Tier III Junior National Champion North Iowa Bulls started their title defense with a 5-2 victory over the home opening Granite City LumberJacks. The Bulls picked up offensively where they left off last year netting five goals led by Taylor Brown, who scored one goal and added two assists. The LumberJacks outshot the Bulls by five but struggled against North Iowa goalie Jared Schletty, who finished the night with 34 saves. Both LumberJack goals scored tonight were potted by defenseman with newcomer Brady Berhardson and veteran Tim Brown picking up the tallies. Boxscore
