St. Louis wins regular season

March 28, 2009

The St. Louis Bandits captured the NAHL’s South Division championship and the league’s regular-season championship after their 4-0 win over the Topeka RoadRunners on Friday night.

Bandits goaltender Keith Kinkaid stopped all 30 shots in the shutout, and Justin Kirchhevel tallied two goals and an assist.

The Alpena IceDiggers locked up the league’s final Robertson Cup Playoffs berth with a 5-2 victory over the Mahoning Valley Phantoms, coupled with the Marquette Rangers’ 3-0 loss to the Traverse City North Stars.

Jon Puskar struck for two goals for Alpena in the win, and goaltender Nick Graves turned aside 29 shots.

The Bandits will host the Springfield Jr. Blues in the first round of the South Division playoffs, and the RoadRunners will host the Wichita Falls Wildcats.
