Saturday Scores: Sugar Land upset caps off busy night in NA3HL

Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 3 @ Wisconsin Whalers 6: Zack Johnson continued his 6 game point streak with a huge hat trick to lead the Wisconsin Whalers in a 6-3 victory over the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks. Wisconsin goaltender David Volkmann stopped 38 shots to pick up the victory bringing his win total to three on the season. Cleveland received goals from Stefan Horgas, Eli Lynn and Brendan Logan as their record dropped to 10-4-3 on the season. Boxscore

Chicago Jr. Bulldogs 6 @ Battle Creek Jr. Revolution 3: The Chicago Jr. Bulldogs struck early getting four 1st period goals to pace their 6-3 victory over the Battle Creek Jr. Revolution. Jarret Walt opened up the scoring at just 4:30 into the 1st period. Walt and teammate Ryan Maksimovic both tallied multiple goals in the win. Battle Creek forward Forrest Walbeck scored two goals in the third period but it wasn’t enough for a comeback. Chicago goaltender Michael Paku picked up the victory for the Jr. Bulldogs. Boxscore

Peoria Mustangs 4 @ Cincinnati Swords 3: Marc Hayton made 36 saves and Brennan Anderson had his third straight multi point game as they led the Peoria Mustangs to a 4-3 road victory over the Cincinnati Swords. Anderson opened the scoring off an assist from Austin Wisely at 8:41 into the 1st period and added an assist on the Andrew Scofield tally less than a minute later. The Swords rallied back hard including a goal with the extra attacker from Nikita Korotkov but were stymied by Hayton. The Mustangs increase their record to 10-5-0 and now have sole possession of first place in the Central division. Boxscore

Toledo Cherokee 1 @ Pittsburgh Vengeance 4: Joseph Randazzo and Tom Diffendal both scored a goal and added two assists to fuel a 4-1 victory for the Pittsburgh Vengeance over the Toledo Cherokee. The Vengeance got an early goal from Randazzo assisted by Diffendal in the 1st period. The Vengeance got two more before Noah Szenderski scored on the power play for the Cherokee cutting the lead down to one. Tyler Speis converted with the man advantage in the final frame to give Pittsburgh the three-goal lead for good. Boxscore

Michigan Mountain Cats 2 @ Metro Jets 4: Josh Beleski had his best game of the season scoring two goals and added an assist leading the Metro Jets to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Michigan Mountain Cats. The Jets and the Mountain Cats traded goals in the first period with Kevin Shand scoring for the Metro Jets and Shawn Cornock scoring for Michigan. Beleski struck on an assist from John Garst to start the second and added one in the third to seal the game for the Metro Jets. Trevor Kalinowski saved 24 shots to pick up this 3rd victory of the season. Boxscore

Topeka Capitals 4 @ Sugar Land Imperials 5 (OT): Yves Bader scored his 5th goal of the season in overtime to give the Sugar Land Imperials the extra time victory over the Topeka Capitals. In a heated affair it was the goalies that saw a lot of action with Topeka goaltender Jude Hull stopping 45 shots and Sugar Land goaltender Colton Anderson making 44 saves. Sugar Land forward Avik Bordak continues his hot start picking up another two points for the season. Boxscore

Granite City Lumberjacks 8 @ Minnesota Flying Aces 0: Zac Sikich scored a hat trick and Aaron Storch scored a goal and added three assists as the Granite City Lumberjacks defeated the Minnesota Flying Aces 8-0. Minnesota goaltender Mike Stumpf had a perfect first period stopping all 13 Lumberjacks shots but was finally beat by Drew Otto short handed that started the streak of goals for Granite City. Granite City goaltender Scott Murray stopped 15 shots for his first shutout of the season. Boxscore

Alexandria Blizzard 0 @ Twin City Steel 5: The Twin City Steel gave their hometown fans a big 5-0 victory over the visiting Alexandria Blizzard just one night after losing by a big margin to the same Blizzard squad. Jace Childs had a huge game for Twin City scoring a pair of goals and a pair of assists to lead the Steel offense. Jackson Germaine had a huge game in the Twin City net picking up his first shutout of the year stopping 35 shots on the night. His counterpart Evan Bisek had 27 saves for Alexandria but dropped his record to 5-3 on the season. Boxscore 

St. Louis Jr. Blues 1 @ North Iowa Bulls 2: The North Iowa Bulls continue their undefeated streak bringing their total to 10 games off of a Kyle Krueger power play goal that gave them a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Jr. Blues. Zane O’Bryan struck first for St. Louis at 1:11 into the 2nd period to give the Jr. Blues the lead until Taylor Brown tied the game up just before the end of the middle frame. It was Krueger who picked up his third goal of the season since being acquired from the Minnesota Magicians of the NAHL. St. Louis goaltender Cooper Cothran was stellar in defeat stopping 45 shots and North Iowa goaltender Jared Schletty picked up his 6th win of the season stopping 28 Jr. Blues shots. Boxscore
