Harcharik commits to Robert Morris
The North Iowa Outlaws have announced that fourth-year forward Joe Harcharik has committed Robert Morris College (College Hockey America) for next season.
A native of Johnston, Iowa, Harcharik is the Outlaws’ all-time leader in goals scored (68) and points (151), as he is the lone remaining player from the team’s first season in 2005-06.
“Everyone who plays in the NAHL dreams of going to a strong college hockey program and for me that dream is coming true,” said Harcharik.
Harcharik, 20, joined the Outlaws in the final month of the 2005-06 season and has played in more games than any other player in the team’s history.
This season, Harcharik had 17 goals for 51 points in 52 games. He added three assists in the Outlaws’ first-round playoff series loss to the Owatonna Express earlier this month.
“I want to thank the Outlaws organization and all the coaches I’ve had, including (former Outlaws head coach) Dave (Boitz), (current head coach) Jeff (Crouse) and (assistant coach) Garrett (Strot) for helping me improve my skills and get this opportunity," Harcharik added.
Robert Morris, which will join the Atlantic Hockey conference next season, is located in Pittsburgh.
Harcharik is the fifth member of this year’s Outlaws team to commit to a Division I program, joining Dan Durham (Air Force Academy), Anthony Raiola (University of Massachusetts), John O’Neill (University of Minnesota Duluth) and Brandon Brodhag (Merrimack College).
