NA3HL announces Flow of the Month winner for November
There are a couple times a year that have the distinction of being called the most wonderful time of the year. For Christmas fans, it is in late December. For football fans, it is the first Sunday in February. However, for male hair enthusiasts that play hockey, it is either in November or during the playoffs.
With that said, the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) announced its Gongshow Flow of the Month winner for November 2013.
The winner this month is Breezy Point North Stars forward Kyle Whipple.
Honorable mentions go to Joe Lampman (Peoria Mustangs) and Joey Garapolo (Chicago Junior Bulldogs).
Whipple, 20, is in his second season with the North Stars in the NA3HL. The native of Chelsea, Michigan, is having a career season thus far, having already matched his point total (15) from a season ago. Whipple’s 15 points and seven goals both currently rank 2nd on the North Stars roster.
However, in the month of November, Whipple took his flow to an entirely new level. Whipple had been the runner-up (or bridesmaid as his mom claims) a couple of times, but never had won. Clearly he pulled out all the stops in November. Like the NAHL winner Tyler Bruneteau, Whipple got an edge on his competition thanks to his trucker mustache that he turned into a full beard during the month in support of Movember.
But clearly that isn’t the ‘mane’ attraction in this case. That honor goes to Whipple’s hair, which has a uniqueness all its own. What can only be described as goldilocks adorns the back of Whipple’s head. The curls are everywhere and the helmet doesn’t stand a chance of containing it. The hair is getting so long and curly that it is starting to intrude on Whipple’s nameplate on the back of his jersey. This growth and style has taken months of maintenance and it shows. Whipple went above and beyond to win this award in November and we congratulate him for the effort.
