Alexandria duo of Payne, Roen make NCAA commitments

The Alexandria Blizzard of the NA3HL are pleased to announce the NCAA Division III commitments for two players.
Forward Brenden Payne has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Gustavus Adolphus College of the MIAC and forward Josiah Roen has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Bethel University of the MIAC.
“We are very excited as an organization to see Brenden and Josiah move on to two great NCAA Division III schools. Both Brenden and Josiah have been great players on the ice as well as being great people off the ice and in the Alexandria community. We look forward to watching both these fine young men pursue their hockey careers and education,” said Alexandria head coach Jeff Crouse.
Payne, 21, was 2nd in team scoring during the 2017-18 regular season. The 5’11/200 lbs. native of Plainfield, Illinois, had 72 points (33 goals, 39 assists) in 44 regular season games played and three points in three playoff games.
Payne played in the 2015-16 season in the NAHL with the Brookings Blizzard and then played the 2016-17 season in the NA3HL with Alexandria. In 90 career NA3HL games, Payne recorded 130 career points.
Roen, 20, is also a two-year forward for the Blizzard in the NA3HL. In 43 regular season games during the 2017-18 season, the 5’9/160 lbs. native of Hugo, Minnesota recorded 44 points (28 goals, 16 assists).
Roen played the 2016-17 season with the Blizzard in the NA3HL, recording 23 points in 44 games played. Overall in his NA3HL career, Roen recorded 67 points in 87 career games.
