Northeast, Top Prospects forward Rudek makes NCAA commitment
March 6, 2019
The Northeast Generals of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Tyler Rudek has committed to play NCAA Division II hockey at Franklin Pierce University.
Rudek, 21, is a three-year General and is fresh off a two-point performance at the 2019 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in Attleboro, MA.
The 6’1/185 lbs. native of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, joined the Generals after a standout career at Mount Saint Charles and made an immediate impact both on and off the ice. So far during the 2018-19 regular season, Rudek has 75 points in 44 games played.
He becomes the second General to join Franklin Pierce following last year’s commitment of Alex O’Dowd who enjoyed a very successful freshman season.
Rudek is currently 3rd all time in scoring with the Northeast Generals with 114 points and has been a mainstay with the team over the last three years.
“I’m always proud of our guys when they commit to play hockey at the next level but this one is special. Tyler has grown up in front of our eyes. He has had some obstacles he has had to overcome and has done an amazing job doing that. He is just a special kid on and off the ice that does it the right way. He has worked so hard not only on getting better on the ice, but becoming a strong young man. We are incredibly excited for Tyler and can’t wait to see him succeed at the next level,” said Generals GM Bryan Erikson.
Head Coach Darryl Locke added, “Rudy has been great for us both on and off the ice. He is a very skilled player, long, plays hard, and is an outstanding teammate. His release on his shot is great and he has been a weapon for us playing both forward and defense. We are really proud of Rudy and happy for him.”
