Chill defenseman De Schepper playing in World Championships

The Coulee Region Chill of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that Top Prospects defenseman Toon De Schepper is currently playing for his home country of Belgium at the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, Division II, Group A.
 
The tournament, which is being held in Belgrade, Serbia, began on April 9th and runs through April 15th.
 
In the first game of the tournament on Tuesday, Belgium won 4-3 in OT over Australia. De Schepper scored Belgium's first goal in the second period after begin down 3-0 in the first to lead the comeback win for Belgium. The next game for Belgium is tomorrow against Spain.
 
De Schepper, 20, just completed his fourth and final season of playing junior hockey, all of which were played in the NA3HL for the Chill/La Crosse Freeze. 
 
The 5’11/174 lbs. native of Nieuwenrode, Belgium, was one of the top defensemen in the league in 2018-19. In 45 games played, De Schepper recorded 80 points, which included 11 goals and 69 assists. His 80 points ranked 3rd in scoring among all NA3HL defensemen.
 
De Schepper was also selected to and played in the 2019 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the Central Division team, where he recorded one point in three games played at the event. He committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Wilkes University.
 
 Overall in his four-year NA3HL career, De Schepper has appeared in 145 career games and recorded 123 career points.
