Rochester defenseman Bacon makes NCAA commitment
May 2, 2019
The Rochester Grizzlies of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that Top Prospects defenseman Seth Bacon has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Bethel University. Bacon is the first Grizzlies player to make a college commitment.
Bacon, 20, finished his first and only season with the Grizzlies where he was named first captain in team history. He finished the season with 35 points (11 goals, 24 assists) in 37 games played, good for sixth on the team. During the 2017-18 season, Bacon appeared in 37 games with the Austin Bruins of the NAHL.
He was also selected to and played in the 2019 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in Attleboro, Massachusetts, where he had one point in three games.
“This means a lot. I’ve had a bunch of ups-and-downs in my career and had to face people who think I couldn’t do it,” Bacon said. “I’d like to thank the Bethel family for accepting me and Coach Mignone and Aikens for their help this past season. Being the first Grizzly [to commit to a school] means a lot. I had the chance to play in front of hundreds of fans every game this past season, which meant a lot. Hopefully this sets the standard for future Grizzlies players.”
“We are extremely excited for Seth. The fact he is the first Grizzlies player to make an NCAA college commitment is great for him and our organization. We are thrilled he gets to continue his hockey career and get a great education at Bethel University,” said Grizzlies Head Coach Casey Mignone.
Bacon will begin his career with Bethel University Royals in the 2019-20 season.
