The Helena Bighorns of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Hunter Pierce has committed to play ACHA Division I hockey for Northern Illinois University.
Pierce, 20, has spent the past two seasons playing junior hockey in the NA3HL for the Bighrorns. The 5’9/150 lbs. native of Fairbanks, Alaska recorded 13 points (10 goals, 3 assists) in 36 games played this past season.
Overall in his NA3HL career, Pierce has played in 81 NA3HL games and recorded 20 points.
“The Bighorns are excited for Hunter as he takes the next step in hockey and life. Throughout his time in Helena, Hunter demonstrated a strong work ethic and desire to put in the time and effort to be a better hockey player. I am positive those traits will continue to serve him well both in hockey and in the classroom, and I look forward to following and enjoying his success as a former Bighorn and NIU student-athlete,” said Bob Richards, Head Coach of the Helena Bighorns.
“I am proud to be bringing Hunter into the program for next season,” said NIU General Manager Ian Kalanges. “He is the type of player that is going to come to the rink every single day, work hard and be an immediate impact to our program”.
“NIU is a perfect school for me on and of the ice and I will have family close by,” said Pierce.
