New Ulm forward Halvorson signs NAHL tender
May 28, 2019
The New Ulm Steel of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Jacob Halvorson has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the New Mexico Ice Wolves of the NAHL’s South Division.
Halvorson, 19, just completed his first season of junior hockey in the NA3HL with the Steel. The 6’2/185 lbs. native of Northfield, Minnesota, was 5th in team scoring during the 2018-19 season, recording 42 points (19 goals, 23 assists) in 47 games played.
He was also selected to and played in the 2019 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the West Division team.
Prior to playing in the NA3HL, Halvorson played for Northfield High School in Minnesota, where he recorded 129 points in 73 career games.
He is the second player from the Steel this season who has signed an NAHL tender agreement.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2019.
