New Ulm forward Halvorson called up to the NAHL

Jacob Halvorson was also selected to and played in the 2019 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the West Division team where he had four points in three games played.
The New Ulm Steel of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Jacob Halvorson has been called up to the North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) Chippewa Steel, where he’ll be joining them on their trip to Alaska.
“We are happy to see the affiliation between Chippewa and New Ulm be in action so early in the season,” said New Ulm Steel head coach Zach Stepan. “Jacob Halvorson’s speed is his strength and with the speed that Chippewa has up front, I believe he will fit right in. On top of that, he is our leading scorer for a reason and that is because he brings more to the table than just his speed. He has shown his physical side and his willingness to block shots for the guys around him and he will need all of those aspects of his game to play at the next level. I believe it will be really good for him to play up and we look forward to seeing him showcase his stuff up there.”
The Chippewa Steel is set to face off against the Kenai River Brown Bears Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9 in Soldotna, Alaska. Then the following week, they play the Fairbanks Ice Dogs Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 in Fairbanks, Alaska.
The 19-year-old from Northfield, Minnesota has played in 12 games for the New Ulm Steel so far this season and has accumulated 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists).
Halvorson was also selected to and played in the 2019 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the West Division team where he had four points in three games played. In 59 career NA3HL games, he has recorded 61 points.
