Milwaukee Power name Marion as new GM

January 6, 2020
The Milwaukee Power of the NA3HL have promoted Kevin Marion from Assistant Coach to General Manager to start off 2020. Marion becomes the second General Manager in the short tenure of the Power and is a perfect fit for the vision of the Power’s ownership for Junior hockey in Milwaukee.

“Kevin is one of the most respected hockey men in the Milwaukee area. His personal and professional reputation and pedigree, on and off the ice is second to no one. More importantly, his commitment to making the Power and the city of Milwaukee into one of the best NA3HL organizations and markets is exactly aligned with our Local Hockey Partners’ vision over the next 2 seasons,” said Chase Ernst, COO of Local Hockey Partners and President of the Power.

“Kevin’s connections with and knowledge of the player personnel within our local Milwaukee market, the state of Wisconsin and throughout our region is going to tremendously increase our ability as an organization to educate, attract, develop and advance those players who are worthy of being the next Milwaukee Power.”

“Thank you to the ownership group of the Milwaukee Power to instill their confidence in me as the new General Manager of the Milwaukee Power. My knowledge of USA Hockey's Central District is a key component, but at the same time we need to get these kids to play in Milwaukee.   It is a challenge yes, but we will do our best to secure the right players that want to be here, that are good kids in the locker room and the community,” said Marion. “We don't need to reach out to the east or west coast for players, we have great hockey players within a 100+ mile radius of Milwaukee.  I want to grow these kids, get scouts in the stands, and get these kids to their next step in junior hockey and that is to the NAHL, BCHL, AJHL and maybe even the USHL. Junior hockey is a tough grind and a step up in maturity is key.”

Marion has put an emphasis on getting his players the same opportunity he had to play in the NCAA, “My goal is to get these kids to an NCAA institution.  The boys know it is a very tough step to get a look at NCAA Division 3 hockey, let alone a NCAA Division 1 opportunity, but I have the confidence in our coaching staff that they will make this happen.”

The Power currently sit at 5th in the Central Division but look to finish year 2 on a high note as the team has posted a record of 3-5 under new Head Coach Nate Eminger, who took over back in November, “We look to finish the season on a positive note, and focus our efforts on our upcoming tendered contracts finalized by 4/22, and ultimately prepare accordingly for the NA3HL draft on April 23rd,” said Marion

Marion will have plenty to keep himself busy as tenders can be signed starting January 15th and then scouting more players as the draft approaches in late April.
