Coulee Region forward Severson signs NAHL tender
January 8, 2020
The Coulee Region Chill of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Parker Severson has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL’s South Division.
Severson, 19, is in his first full season of playing junior hockey in the NA3HL. The 6'0/175 lbs. native of Saginaw, Michigan, currently leads the Chill in scoring this season with 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists) in 29 games.
Severson and his high school team were State Runner-ups the past two seasons for Saginaw Heritage High School in Michigan where he was second on his team in points both of those seasons.
"I'm excited to be apart of the Mudbugs organization and an honor to have signed a tender with them. They have a great program and a great atmosphere in Shreveport in a very good South Division,” said Severson.
"Our organization is happy for Parker and his future. He set a goal this year to sign a tender with a NAHL team and has worked extremely hard this season to reach his goal. He has been a joy to work with and we know he will continue to do big things on and off the ice,” said Chill head coach Don Babineau.
"Parker was at our main camp last summer and he showed very well, but there were a few things that we wanted him to work on. Seeing him at the NA3HL Showcase, it was obvious that he has put the work in and is making a major impact with the Chill and Coach Babineau. We are excited to follow his continued progress as the year goes on,” stated Shreveport Scout Tom Winkler.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 2, 2020.
