Saturday Scores: Knights stay in playoff hunt with another win

Ryan Pogue had a big week to lead the Granite City Lumberjacks to three more wins to increase their winning streak to eight straight games.

Long Beach Sharks 3 @ New England Knights 5 – Thanks to a Hat Trick from Nolan Murphy the New England Knights won at home, 5-3. In the 1st period Nolan Murphy of the Knights scored before Matthew Barnes of the Sharks could tie it up. Kyle O’Neill put the Sharks in the lead with a goal :12 into the 2nd before Martin Dlugolinsky of the Knights could score. In the 3rd Jake Willis and Nolan Murphy of the Knights scored before Sharks forward Barnes. The final goal of the night completed a Hat Trick for Nolan Murphy. Goalie Patrick Gribbin of the Knights made 18 saves of 21 in the win while Sharks goalie Timothy Brillaud made 40 saves of 45 in the loss. 
 
Granite City Lumberjacks 6 @ Wausau RiverWolves 1 – The Wausau RiverWolves were defeated at home by the Granite City Lumberjacks, 6-1. The RiverWolves got an early lead in the 1st with the only goal of the period coming from Sam Baker. Ryan Pogue and Nicholas Richert of the Lumberjacks scored late in the 2nd to take the lead. In the 3rd the Lumberjacks put up 4 unanswered goals from Blake Spetz,  Nick Plautz, Tristan Birdsall, and Carson Simon. Goalie Nate Johnston of the Lumberjacks made 18 saves of 19 in the win while goalie Tyler Klatt of the RiverWolves made 74 saves of 80 in the loss. 
 
Skylands Kings 2 @ New England Stars 6 – The New England Stars defeated the Skylands Kings at home, 6-2.  The Stars started strong with the only goal in the 1st coming from Josh Boyd.  In the 2nd Nate Glynn of the Stars scored before the Kings got on the board with a shot from Dylan Dinzik, followed by two more goals from Corey Tumenas and Anthony Viola of the Stars. Kings forward Thomas Hoffman scored in the 3rd before the Stars had two more goals from Jon Natale and Connor Barter. Kings goalie Alex Allison allowed 6 of 35 shots on goal while Stars goalie Cam Carpenter made 21 saves of 23.  
 
Texas Brahmas 5 @ Louisiana Drillers 2 – The Texas Brahmas defeated the Louisiana Drillers thanks to a Hat Trick from Gabe Potyk, 5-2.  Andrue Trelstad of the Brahmas scored the only goal of the 1st. In the 2nd the Drillers were quick to score with shots from Riley Sloane and Grant Griffin before the Brahmas could answer with two more goals from Gabe Potyk and Richard Indermill. In the 3rd the Brahmas kept their lead with two goals from Gabe Potyk to complete a Hat Trick. Drillers goalie Aaron Dickstein made 32 saves of 35 while Brahmas goalie Bryce Runyan made 17 saves of 19. 
 
Texas RoadRunners 5 @ Mid Cities Jr. Stars 3 – The Texas RoadRunners traveled to defeat the Mid Cities Jr. Stars, 5-3. In the 1st period Seth Payson of the RoadRunners scored before Zach Russel of the Jr. Stars could tie it up. Trevor Borlace and Logan Bellar of the RoadRunners then scored to take the lead. Mason Evans of the RoadRunners scored :24 into the 2nd to be answered by goals from Dawson Plott and Zach Russel of the Jr. Stars. The final goal of the night was another from Evans of the RoadRunners before an uneventful 3rd. Jr. Stars goalies Kenton Kim made 20 saves of 25 while Nahuel Veyan made 6 saves of 6, and Jaeger Reed of the RoadRunners made 27 saves of 30. 
 
Milwaukee Power 0 @ Rochester Grizzlies 7 – Thanks to a Hat Trick from Lucas Newman the Rochester Grizzlies dominated at home against the Milwaukee Power, 7-0 . The Grizzlies came out in full force with three goals in the 1st from Zakary Justice, Dylan Schneider, and Lucas Newman. In the 2nd period the Grizzlies continued with two more goals from Newman and Hunter Williams. Schneider scored again in the 3rd followed by another from Newman to complete a Hat Trick. Goalie Shane Soderwall of the Grizzlies made 19 saves of 19 while Power goalie Joey Greilich made 51 saves of 58. 
 
St. Louis Jr. Blues 1 @ Coulee Region Chill 5 – The Coulee Region Chill beat the St. Louis Jr. Blues at home, 5-1. The Chill managed two goals in the 1st from Gijs De Schepper and Dylan Dent. In the 2nd the Chill kept the lead with a goal from Parker Severson before Mike Deeba of the Jr. Blues could score with :20 left in the period. Sam VanderHoeven of the Chill ended the game with two goals in the 3rd. Chill goalie Michael Janke made 32 saves of 33 in the win while Jr. Blues goalie Brett Tome made 33 or 38 in the loss. 
 
North Iowa Bulls 5 @ Alexandria Blizzard 2 – The North Iowa Bulls traveledto beat the Alexandria Blizzard, 5-2. Lucas Wahlin of the Bulls scored the only goal of the 1st period. In the 2nd the Blizzard got on the board with a goal from Nolan Westra to be answered by a goal from Justin Daly of the Bulls. Derek Dropik of the Blizzard scored before Nick Bowlin of the Bulls. The 3rd period brought two goals from Bulls forwards Justin Daly and Matt Dahlseide.  Goalie Ville Hyttinen of the Blizzard saved 40 of 45 shots-on-goal while Bulls goalie Joseph Daninger made 27 saves of 29. 
 
Willmar WarHawks 8 @ Breezy Point North Stars 1 – The Breezy Point North Stars fell at home to the Willmar WarHawks, 8-1. In the 1st period forward Bowie Slarks scored to put the WarHawks up by one.  The WarHawks put up five points in the 2nd from Logan Starkey, Josh Hoffman, Brandon Holt, Marquez Ginger, and Jake Santarelli. In the 3rd period Trent Sylvester of the WarHawks scored to be answered by a goal from North Stars Laauli Tosi. The final goal of the game came from Nick Foldesi of the WarHawks.  North Stars goalies Griffin Foster allowed 4 of 26 shots and Jacob Mitchell allowed 4 of 30. Goalie Luke Weberg of the WarHawks made 22 saves of 23. 
 
Butte Cobras 2 @ Sheridan Hawks 8 – The Sheridan Hawks won at home against the Butte Cobras, 8-2. In the 1st period the Hawks got on the board with a shot from Peyton Kesselhon only for Kyler Garsjo of the Cobras to tie it up. The Hawks added two more points before the end of the period with goals from Logan Syrup and Kolten Wright. The Hawks stayed ahead in the 2nd with a shot from Stepan Ruta and another from Wright. Gavin Miller of the Hawks scored the first goal of the 3rd period before the Cobras could gain another point with a goal from Ty Stovin. Hawks goalie Luke Fundator made 10 saves of 12 while Cobras goalie saved 55 of 63 shots on goal. 
 
Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles 5 @ Danbury Colonials 2 – The Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles beat the Danbury Colonials, 5-2. In the 1st period Ben Saurbaugh of the Eagles scored before Scot Lawson of the Colonials could tie it up. The Colonials took the lead in the 2nd with a goal from Brandon Cope but the Eagles came back with two goals from William Darling and Ethan Fuller. In the 3rd period the final goals of the game came from Jayvon Fogelgren and John Kosa of the Eagles. Goalie Andrew Engel of the Eagles made 47 saves of 49 while Colonial goalies Alex Fernandes made 19 saves of 22 and Sam Boos made 5 of 6.  
 
Missoula Junior Blues 1 @ Bozeman Icedogs 7 – The Bozeman Icedogs won at home against the Missoula Junior Blues, 7-1. The Icedogs took the lead in the 1st with the only goal of the period coming from Kadyn Fennell. In the 2nd period Christian Veneruzzo of the Icedogs scored before forward Austin Franck could get the Junior Bruins on the board. Two more goals came from Luke Hartge and Caden Duggan of the Icedogs before the end of the period. The Icedogs added three to their lead in the 3rd with two goals from Hazen McKay and another from Hartge. Goalie Seth Daniel of the Junior Bruins made 43 saves of 50 while Conan Hayton of the Icedogs made 27 of 28. 
 
Gillette Wild 1 @ Yellowstone Quake 4 –The Yellowstone Quake won against the Gillette Wild at home, 4-1.  Dylan Rumpke of the Quake scored the lone goal of the 1st period 6:19 in. The Quake kept the lead in the 2nd with two goals, one from Evan Snyder and another from Rumpke. Mason Hoffman of the Wild scored late in the 3rd, answered shortly by Jack Harris of the Quake with just :03 left in the game. Quake goalie Michael Allman made 34 saves of 35 in the win while Wild goalie Shane Phillips made 27 of 30 in the loss.  
 
Helena Bighorns 4 @ Great Falls Americans 5 – The Great Falls Americans win at home in a shootout against the Helena Bighorns, 5-4. The Americans took the lead in the 1st with three goals from Jake Hayes, Blake Nerney, and Kellen Harris. Jeremy Blondin of the Bighorns scored in the 2nd period with just over a minute left. In an eventful 3rd period Americans forward Dylan Olson scored only for the Bighorns to force overtime with two goals from Darren Donovan. Both teams held the other off in the five minute three-on-three to go to a shootout. Donovan of the Bighorns made the first goal of the shootout followed by one from Hayes of the Americans. Both teams missed their second shots with the Bighorns also missing their third shot. Levi Mese of the Americans scored on the third shot to win the game. Americans goalie Trever Mellen made 25 saves of 29 in the win while Bighorns goalies Rylan Labrie made 7 saves of 10 and Kevin Tauntman made 15 of 15.
