Saturday Scores: Brahmas win South, Mustangs in playoffs

Jaden Gardner helped the Peoria Mustangs clinch the final playoff spot in the Central Division thanks to a 2-1 win on Saturday in Coulee Region.

Texas Brahmas 5 @ Atlanta Capitals 0 - Thanks to a shutout from Bryce Runyan the Texas Brahmas won against the Atlanta Capitals, 5-0, and in the process clinched the South Division regular season title for a fifth straight season. Jack Cooper of the Brahmas scored the first goal of the game in the 2nd period. In the 3rd the Brahmas added four to their lead with goals from Leevi Selanne, Andrue Trelstad, Ian Erdman, and Benjamin Linberg. Goalie Bryce Runyan of the Brahmas made 22 saves while Capitals goalie Patrick Egdorf made 43 of 48.

Northeast Generals 3 @ Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles 1 - The Northeast Generals beat the Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles, 3-1. The Generals got on the board with 2 goals in the 2nd period from Kolye Bankauskas and Tyler Kaminski. In the 3rd Generals forward Jeffrey Sidot scored followed by a goal from Thomas Liebold of the Soaring Eagles. Goalie Raphael Gaughan of the Generals made 36 saves of 37 while Soaring Eagles goalie Andrew Engel made 51 of 54. 

Peoria Mustangs 2 @ Coulee Region Chill 1 - The Peoria Mustangs clinched a spot in the Fraser Cup Playoffs thanks to a 2-1 at Coulee Region. The Mustangs got on the board in the 2nd with a goal from Connor Bennett. In the 3rd Ryan Payne added to the Mustangs lead before the Dylan Dent of the Chill could score with a minute left in the game. Mustangs goalie Jaden Gardner made 29 saves of 30 while Chill goalie MIchael Janke made 39 of 41. 

Maine Wild 1 @ New England Stars 4 - The New England Stars won at home against the Maine Wild, 4-1. In the 1st the Stars took the lead with 2 goals from Josh Boyd and Jaden Brignoni. The Stars added to their lead in the 2nd with a goal from Michael Lempiainen. Dalton Mcann of the Wild scored early in the 3rd before Connor Barter of the Stars could score. Stars goalie Cam Carpenter made 21 saves of 22 in the win while WIld goalie Keenan Gamache made 47 of 51. 

Milwaukee Power 0 @ St. Louis Jr. Blues 5 - Thanks to a shutout from the St. Louis Jr. Blues won against the Milwaukee Power, 5-0. The only goal of the 1st came from Jacob Wiethaupt of the Jr. Blues. In the 2nd the Jr. Blues added one to their lead with a goal from Sean Hofstetter. In the 3rd the Jr. Blues stayed ahead with three goals, one from Jake Stevenson and two more from Wiethaupt. Goalie Brett Tome of the Jr. Blues made 25 saves while Ty Bamhill of the Power made 48 of 53. 

Louisiana Drillers 4 @ Mid Cities Jr. Stars 5 (OT) - Thanks to an overtime goal from Brandon Speights, the Mid Cities Jr. Stars won at home against the Louisiana Drillers, 5-4. Rafferty Chaney of the Jr. Stars scored the lone goal of the 1st. In the 2nd period Drillers forward Brandon Morgan was quick to score, followed by a goal from Steven Guadalajara of the Jr. Stars. The Drillers answered with two more goals from Blake Siewertsen and Mitchell Rutledge before the end of the 2nd. Morgan of the Drillers scored in the 3rd only for the Jr. Stars to follow with two goals from Zach Perez and Hunter Leonhard to force overtime. Brandon Speights scored 3:53 into overtime to win the game for the Jr. Stars. Goalie Kenton Kim of the Jr. Stars made 42 saves of 46 while Chris O’Shaughnessy of the Drillers made 48 of 53. 

Skylands KIngs 5 @ L/A Nordiques 3 - Thanks to a hat trick from Joseph Arnold the Skylands Kings traveled to defeat the L/A Nordiques, 5-3. The Kings got an early lead in the 1st with goals from Dylan Dinzik and Trevor Souza. In the 2nd Joseph Arnold of the KIngs scored before Hans Watson of the Nordiques could, followed by another goal from Arnold. Jackson Vercellono of the Nordiques answered with a goal. Late in the 3rd Joe Clark of the Nordiques scored only to be followed by a goal from Arnold of the Kings to complete a hat trick. Kings goalie Tyler Robertson made 34 saves of 37 in the win while Nordiques goalie Jason St. Pierre made 15 of 20 in the loss. 

New England Knights 1 @ Danbury Colonials 2 - The Danbury Colonials won at home against the New England Knights, 2-1. Nolan Murphy of the Knights scored the only goal of the 2nd period. In the 3rd the Colonials came back with two goals from Kolby Donovan and Connor Lefkof. Colonials goalie Alex Fernandes made 32 saves of 33 in the win while Knights goalie Patrick Gribbin made 42 of 44 in the loss. 

Willmar WarHawks 5 @ Alexandria Blizzard 2 - Thanks to a hat trick from Justin Ohnstad the Willmar WarHawks traveled to defeat the Alexandria Blizzard, 5-2. The WarHawks had two goals in the 1st from Trent Sylvester and Justin Ohnstad before Austin McNeil of the Blizzard could score. In the 2nd period the Brandon Holt of the WarHawks followed by two goals from Ohnstad to complete a hat trick. Michal Trejbal of the Blizzard scored the lone goal of the 3rd. Goalie Lukas Haugen of the WarHawks made 43 saves of 45 in the win while Blizzard goalies Bailey Rosch made 8 of 12 and Ville Hyttinen made 10 of 11 in the loss. 

Breezy Point North Stars 4 @ New Ulm Steel 5 - The Breezy Point North Stars lost to the New Ulm Steel, 5-4. Joey Gimberlin of the Steel scored in the 1st followed by two goals from Brett Reed of the North Stars. In the 2nd period Jacob Halvorson of the Steel scored followed by goals from Laauli Tosi and Reed of the North Stars. The Steel put up three more goals in the 3rd from Parker Dom, Halvoarson, and Nick Wieben. Steel goalies Jack Raymond made 11 saves of 14 and Igor Samokhvalov made 20 of 21 while Griffin Foster of the North Stars made 45 of 50. 

Rochester Grizzlies 1 @ Granite City Lumberjacks 4 - The Granite City Lumberjacks won at home against the Rochester Grizzlies, 4-1. The Lumberjacks had the only goal of the 1st with a shot from Jonah Jangula. Nathan Green and Troy Dahleimer added to the Lumberjacks lead in the 2nd. In the 3rd Tristan Birdsall scored for the Lumberjacks before Joey Fostad could score for the Grizzlies with just :19 left in the game. Goalie Bailey Huber of the Lumberjacks made 26 saves of 27 while Mathias Backstrom of the Grizzlies made 20 of 33. 

Great Falls Americans 3 @ Sheridan Hawks 4 (OT) - The Great Falls Americans lost to the Sheridan Hawks in overtime, 4-3. Kolten Wright of the Hawks scored in the 1st followed by a goal from Dylan Olson of the Americans. Levi Mese of the Americans had the only goal of the 2nd while Anthony Fortin of the Hawks had the only goal of the 3rd. In overtime, the Hawks had two goals from Mike Kocsis and Alex Kesler before a goal from Brody Boyce of the Americans. Hawks goalie James Downie made 33 saves of 36 in the win while Americans goalie Trevor Mellen made 49 of 53 in the loss. 

Helena Bighorns 2 @ Gillette Wild 3 (OT) - The Gillette Wild won at home against the Helena Bighorns, 3-2. The Bighorns had the only goal of the 1st with a shot from Porter Tirrill. The Wild put up two in the 2nd from Declan Young and Nathaniel Fanning. Darren Donovan of the Bighorns scored in the 3rd to force overtime. Caleb Sanborn of the Wild scored :40 into overtime to win the game. Goalie Brad Muzzarelli of the Wild made 20 saves of 22 while Kevin Tauntman of the Bighorns made 19 of 22. 

Missoula Junior Bruins 8 @ Butte Cobras 4 - Thanks to a hat trick from Zane Cluphf the Missoula Junior Bruins defeated the Butte Cobras, 8-4. The Junior Bruins started strong with two goals in the 1st from Zane Cluphf and Cayce Balk. In the 2nd Nick Bradshaw of the Cobras scored only to be answered by two goals from Cluphf of the Junior Bruins. Mi-Kwan Tallman of the Junior Bruins scored in the 3rd only to be answered by two goals from Robin Bagley and one from Ty Stovin. Henry Morrison and Chase Wilhelm of the Junior Bruins scored before the end of the 3rd. Junior Bruins goalie Dylan Swanson made 34 saves of 38 in the win while Cobras goalie Danny Fielding made 61 of 69 in the loss. 

Yellowstone Quake 1 @ Bozeman Icedogs 3 - The Bozeman Icedogs won against the Yellowstone Quake, 3-1. Will Kutch of the Icedogs scored the only goal of the 1st period. In the 3rd the Icedogs added to their lead with a goal from Caleb Brownell before Cade Rosansky of the Quake could score. Christian Veneruzzo of the Icedogs scored with :17 left in the game. Icedogs goalie Conan Hayton made 28 saves of 29 while Michael Allman of the Quake made 46 of 48.
