Knights help playoff chances with 6-3 win on Wednesday
NE Knights 6 @ Maine 3 – Levi Kervinen had four points, including a goal and three assists as the New England Knights stayed in the playoff hunt with a 6-3 win over the Maine Wild on Wednesday night. After a scoreless 1st period, the Knights went ahead 3-0 with three goals in less than two minutes early in the 2nd period on goals from Nolan Murphy, Ryan Morrison and Kervinen. The Wild made it a 3-1 game just :26 seconds later as Andrew Bertolini scored. However, the Knights regained control as Jake Willis and Chase Lapworth scored to make it a 5-2 game. The Wild mounted another comeback later in the 2nd period with goals from Gus Frankwicz and Matt Carson to make it a 5-3 game at the end of two periods. In the 3rd period, another goal from Willis made it 6-3 and put the game out of reach. Knights goalie Patrick Gribbin made 29 saves in the win, while Tom Spero and Ricardo Alvarez each gave up three goals in the loss, with Spero making 34 saves and Alvarez making 14 saves in the loss.
