Saturday Scores: Capitals join Fraser Cup Playoff field

Duncan McGarrah had a four-point night on Saturday, including a hat-trick to lead Bozeman to another win and close in on the Frontier title.

Mid Cities Jr. Stars 4 @ Atlanta Capitals 5 (OT) - Thanks to an overtime goal from Kobe Kitagawa the Atlanta Capitals won against the Mid Cities Jr. Stars, 5-4. The first goal of the game came in the 2nd period from Capitals forward Andrei Ruskov and was answered by two goals from Brandon Speights and RJ Muckensturm of the Jr. Stars. Kirill Nikulichev of the Capitals scored before the start of the 3rd. The Jr. Stars managed two goals in the 3rd from Rafferty Chaney and Payton Carter before the Capitals could tie it up with shots from Lucas Crawford and Jesse Keicher. In overtime the Capitals won with a goal from K Kitagawa. Goalie Noah Ping of the Capitals made 37 saves of 41 in the win while Jr. Stars goalie Noah Kinsinger made 40 of 45 in the loss.
 
Bozeman Icedogs 9 @ Gillette Wild 2 - Thanks to a hat trick from Duncan McGarrah the Bozeman Icedogs traveled to defeat the Gillette Wild, 9-2. In the 1st period the Icedogs put up two goals from Caleb Brownell and Duncan McGarrah before George Stilson of the Wild could score. The Icedogs had three more goals in the 1st, one from Tadeas Aulehla and two from McGarrah. The only goal in the 2nd came from Icedogs defenseman Isacc Smoldon. In the 3rd Declan Young of the Wild scored followed by goals from Hazen McKay, Dennis Tamburo Jr., and JD Schmelzenbach of the Icedogs. Goalie Conan Hayton of the Icedogs made 38 of 40 saves in the win while Wild goalies Shane Phillips made 15 of 20 and Brad Muzzarelli made 27 of 31 in the loss. 
 
Long Beach Sharks 3 @ Danbury Colonials 6 - Thanks to a hat trick from Misha Mshar the Danbury Colonials won against the Long Beach Sharks, 6-3. The Colonials got on the board early with a goal from Kyle McEnany only for the Sharks to answer with a goal from Matthew Doane. The Colonials put up two more points in the 1st with goals from Kevin Remson and Misha Mshar. In the 2nd the Colonials kept their lead with a goal from Nate Mastrony which was followed by a goal from Steven Ferraro of the Sharks, and another from Mshar. Mshar scored again in the 3rd to complete a hat trick before Kyle O’Neill could score for the Sharks. Colonials goalie Shane O’Brien made 11 saves of 14 in the win while Sharks goalie Timothy Brillaud made 36 of 42 in the loss.
 
Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles 3 @ Skylands Kings 6 - The Skylands Kings won at home against the Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles, 6-3. The Kings took the lead in the 1st with two goals from Dylan Dinzik and Joseph Arnold. In the 3rd the Kings kept their lead with three goals from Trevor Christopher, James Clarke, and Jeremy Brassard. The Soaring Eagles answered with three goals from Thomas Liebold, Jayvon Fogelgren, and Liam Murphy. The Kings got the last goal of the game with a shot from Arnold. Goalie Alex Allison of the Kings made 36 saves of 39 while Soaring Eagles goalies Andrew Engel made 31 of 36 and Nick Konkel made 4 of 4. 
 
New England Knights 4 @ L/A Nordiques 9 - Thanks to a hat trick from Jackson Vercellono the L/A Nordiques defeated the New England Knights, 9-4. The Nordiques managed two goals in the 1st from Will Fletcher and Joe Clark before the Knights could get on the board with a goal from Martin Dlugolinsky. Jackson Vercellono of the Nordiques scored before the end of the period. In the 2nd the Nordiques put up four points from Hans Watson, Sam Frechette, Clark, and Michael Keller before Dlugolinsky of the Knights could score. Max Burum scored twice for the Knights in the 3rd followed by two goals from Vercellono of the Nordiques to complete a hat trick. Nordiques goalie Jason St. Pierre made 24 saves of 28 while Knights goalie Zach Roncarati made 40 of 49.
 
Texas Brahmas 4 @ Texas RoadRunners 1 - The Texas Brahmas traveled to defeat the Texas RoadRunners, 4-1. The Brahmas took the lead in the 1st with three goals from Parker Mara, Matej Palfy, and Gabe Potyk. In the 3rd the RoadRunners got on the board with a shot from Jakub Kovacka before Tyler Blanchard of the Brahmas could score. Goalie Bryce Runyan of the Brahmas made 20 saves of 21 in the win while Jaeger Reed of the RoadRunners made 28 of 32 in the loss. 
 
Northeast Generals 10 @ Maine Wild 1 - The Northeast Generals won against the Maine Wild, 10-1. The lone goal of the 1st came from Carson Asper of the Generals. In the 2nd the Generals added two to their lead with goals from Nicholas Wracker and Tyler Kaminski before Andrew Bertollini of the Wild could score. The Generals put up seven goals in the 3rd from Kolye Bankauskas, Kaminski, Ryan Falls, Asper, Jeffrey Sidoit, and two from Deacon More. Generals goalie Raphael Gaughan allowed 1 goal in the win while Seth Dube of the Wild allowed 10.
 
Milwaukee Power 2 @ Peoria Mustangs 7 - Thanks to a hat trick from Dillan Bentley the Peoria Mustangs won at home against the Milwaukee Power, 7-2. In the 1st period Dillan Bentley of the Mustangs scored before Ryan Butt could put the Power on the board, followed by a three more goals from Jaycob Bland, Zachary Eddington, and Bentley of the Mustangs. The lone goal of the 2nd came from Mustangs defenseman Ryan Payne. Chase Mason of the Mustangs scored in the 3rd only to be answered by a goal from Wesley Knutson of the Power which was followed by a goal from Bentley of the Mustangs to complete a hat trick. Goalie Cole Walter of the Mustangs made 18 saves of 20 in the win while Power goalie Joey Greilich made 35 of 42 in the loss. 
 
Rochester Grizzlies 2 @ Coulee Region Chill 3 (SO) - Thanks to a shootout goal from Gadel Khismatullin the Coulee Region Chill won against the Rochester Grizzlies, 3-2. The Grizzlies had the only goal of the 1st period with a shot from Cody Reagle. In the 2nd Marco Escobar of the Chill scored. Luke McKinch of the Grizzlies scored before Dylan Dent of the Chill could tie the game. Gadel Khismatullin won the shootout for the Chill. Goalie Devin Naidow of the Chill made 50 saves of 52 while Shane Soderwall of the Grizzlies made 26 of 28. 
 
New Ulm Steel 2 @ Granite City Lumberjacks 1 - The New Ulm Steel won against the Granite City Lumberjacks, 2-1. Tristan Birdsall of the Lumberjacks scored in the 1st period. In the 3rd the Steel came back with two goals from Keegan Bauman and Joey Gimberlin. Steel goalie Igor Samokhvalov made 34 of 35 saves in the win while Bailey Huber of the Lumberjacks made 35 of 37 in the loss. 
 
St. Louis Jr. Blues 2 @ North Iowa Bulls 4 - The North Iowa Bulls won at home against the St. Louis Jr. Blues, 4-2. The only goal of the 1st came from Sean Hofstetter of the Jr. Blues. In the 2nd the Bulls managed two goals from Sota Isogai and Lukas Wahlin before Evan Rosa ofthe Jr. BLues could score. Carter Wagner of the Bulls scored before the end of the period. Isogai added to the Bulls lead in the 3rd. Goalie Joseph Daninger of the Bulls made 22 saves of 24 in the win while Brett Tome of the Jr. Blues made 34 of 38 in the loss. 
 
Breezy Point North Stars 5 @ Willmar WarHawks 4 - The Breezy Point North Stars won against the Willmar WarHawks, 5-4. Haydon Chivers of the North Stars scored the only goal of the 1st period. In the 2nd Nick Foldesi of the WarHawks scored only to be answered by a goal from Braeden Zaste on the North Stars, followed by a goal from Dylan Svoboda of the WarHawks. Garrett Freeman put one up for the North Stars before Svoboda could score again for the WarHawks. The North Stars managed two goals in the 3rd from Brett Reed and Jordan Linder to take the lead before a goal from Jake Santarelli of the WarHawks could make it a one-goal game. North Stars goalies Jake Sumner made 33 saves of 36 and Jacob Mitchell made 15 of 16 while WarHawks goalie Luke Weberg made 30 of 35. 
 
Sheridan Hawks 3 @ Helena Bighorns 6 - Thanks to a hat trick from Gavgn Galloway the Helena Bighorns defeated the Sheridan Hawks, 6-3. In the 1st period Alex Kesler and Jack Royer of the Hawks scored. The Bighorns came back with four goals in the 2nd from Andrew Deskin, Ty Niskanen, Darren Donovan, and Gavgn Galloway. In the 3rd Mike Kocsis of the Hawks scored before Galloway of the Bighorns could complete a hat trick with two consecutive goals. Bighorns goalie Ethan Racz made 69 saves of 72 while Hawks goalie James Downie made 28 of 34. 
 
Great Falls Americans 5 @ Yellowstone Quake 0 - Thanks to a shutout from Trevor Mellen  the Great Falls Americans defeated the Yellowstone Quake, 5-0. The Americans had one goal in the 1st from Blake Nerney. In the 2nd the Americans added to their lead with goals from Logan Rachow, Henry Chaves, and Luke Richesin. The lone goal of the 3rd came from Rachow of the Americans. Goalie Trevor Mellen made 22 saves in the shutout while Quake goalies Hudgel Selk made 33 saves of 37 and Michael Allman made 8 of 9.
