Peoria forward Murphy signs NAHL tender
The Peoria Mustangs of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Quinton Murphy has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
Murphy, 19, just completed his second season of junior hockey in the NA3HL. The 5’9/170 lbs. native of Champaign, IL, recorded 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) in 38 games played during the 2020-21 regular season.
He also chipped in one goal in five Fraser Cup Playoff games.
Murphy also spent the 2019-20 season with the Mustangs, recording 28 points in 40 games played. He also made his NAHL debut with the Springfield Jr. Blues on September 20, 2019.
Overall in 78 NA3HL regular season games, Murphy has recorded 53 points.
Prior to playing in the NA3HL, Murphy spent two seasons playing 16U and 15U hockey for the Chicago Young Americans.
His is the third player from the Mustangs to sign an NAHL tender for the 2021-22 season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which includes one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2021 NAHL Draft.
