Danbury names Noseworthy as new Head Coach

July 21, 2021

The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks of the NA3HL have officially hired Tyler Noseworthy as their head coach for the 2021-22 season.

The hire comes in the wake of Doug Friedman accepting a position as Director of Hockey Operations for his alma mater, Boston University.

“Anytime you bring in a quality coach like Coach Friedman, you have to expect that at some point they will take the next steps in their career,” said Hat Tricks Director of Hockey Operations Billy McCreary. “Fortunately for Doug, that came in his backyard and at his alma mater, Boston University.”

As a player, Noseworthy made his way around North America including stops in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the Maritime Junior Hockey League, the Southern Professional Hockey League, and the ECHL.

His journey also included stops with both the Danbury Whalers and Titans of the Federal Hockey League. Most recently Noseworthy found himself playing for the Sydney Bears in the Australian Ice Hockey League in 2017.

“I’m very excited to come back to Danbury as a coach and general manager for the NA3HL Jr. Hat Tricks,” Noseworthy said. “As a player and a coach, character is huge for me. My goal is to win, but also develop and work with these athletes to become better players on the ice and exceptional individuals off it.”

While in Danbury, Noseworthy racked up 60 points (28G+32A) in 50 games over two seasons, including a Federal Hockey league Championship with the Whalers in 2013.

“I loved my time in Danbury as a player. I won a championship there, which was one of the best times of my life. I have lifelong friendships and relationships built there already. The place truly holds a special place in my heart.”

Noseworthy, a native of St. John’s, Newfoundland, most recently served as an assistant coach for the Pictou County Crushers in the Maritime Junior Hockey League.

“Tyler has an extensive background in the game, he has played in Danbury previously and provides experience at the Major Junior and Professional levels.” McCreary continued. “He is a highly motivated individual who has a passion for developing and preparing players for the next level.”

Noseworthy looks to improve upon a successful campaign last season for the Hat Tricks which saw them finish second in the NA3HL East Division and amass a 23-13-0 record.
