Sunday Wrap-Up: Tradesmen, Brahmas complete three-game sweeps

St. Louis 2 @ Oregon 13 – The Tradesmen widened their lead atop the Central Division with a commanding 13-2 win over St. Louis, completing a three-game sweep of the Jr. Blues. The game was over early as Oregon led 3-0 after one period and 7-0 after two periods. Blake Stafford, Isaac Nett, Carter Watters, Easton Simpson, and Bryce Stensrud all had two goals apiece and Cooper Routheau, Max Cohen, and Dayne Deanovich also scored in the Tradesmen win. The Jr. Blues got goals from Tommy LaWigne and Anthony Bagnole in the loss. Oregon goalie Walker Berner made 21 saves in the win.
Mid Cities 1 @ TX RoadRunners 6 – The RoadRunners cruised to a three-game sweep of the Stars as Jack Herron had two goals and an assist in a 6-1 win on Sunday. Texas jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Tyler Love and TJ Lipsky in the 1st period. Towards the end of the period, Brendon Zeis scored for the Stars to make it 2-1. Matvey Ivanov added a goal for the RoadRunners in the 2nd period to make it 3-1 and then Herron scored twice in the 3rd period along with a goal from Eitan Geralnik to make it a 6-1 final. Jimmy Packee made 14 saves in the win, while Cole Eckert made 65 saves in the loss.
Atlanta 1 @ TX Brahmas 2 (OT) – The Brahmas moved into sole possession of 2nd place in the South Division as they completed a three-game home sweep of the Capitals thanks to a 2-1 overtime win on Sunday. Atlanta was first to score as Joe McLaughlin opened the scoring in the 1st period. Late in the 3rd period, the Brahmas tied the game at 1-1 thanks to a goal from Alexander Cagan. Just :12 seconds into overtime, Aaron Best ended the game with his 12th goal of the season. Brendan Forden made 35 saves in the win, while Damian Vandanacker made 47 saves in the loss.
Austin 0 @ El Paso 3 – Rhinos goalie stopped all 15 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the year as El Paso blanked Austin in the rubber match of their three-game weekend set, 3-0. El Paso opened the scoring in the 2nd period with goals from Tristen Elmhurst and Payne Pent to make it 2-0. Zachary Ware added a goal in the 3rd period to make it a 3-0 final. Ice Bats goalie Collin Lemanski made 38 saves in the loss.
New Ulm 4 @ Mason City 3 – Four different players scored for the Steel as they picked up their second win of the weekend with a 4-3 road win in Mason City. The Toros led 2-0 early on a pair of goals from Jordan Newpower. The Steel responded with four straight goals to take a 4-2 lead as Hunter Nelson, Griffin Lennes, Jack Laser and Gus Cantwell all found the back of the net. Cullen Hogan had a late goal for the Toros to make the final, 4-3. Nolan Lacosse made 18 saves in the win, while Will Kunka made 24 saves in the loss.
Northeast 4 @ Danbury 1 – In their only game of the weekend, the Generals got 20 saves from D’Mar McCoy in a 4-1 win in Danbury on Sunday. The Jr. Hat Tricks opened the scoring in the 1st period with a goal from Oleg Egorov to make it 1-0. It was all Generals after that as goals from Henry Wilson and Nolan Zotter in the 2nd period made it 2-1 and then Matthew Nuzzolilo amd Logan Brown scored in the 3rd period to make the final, 4-1. Danbury goalie Ryan Maguire made 32 saves in the loss.
New Jersey 3 @ Bay State 2 (OT) – The Titans completed a weekend road sweep of the Bobcats thanks to a 3-2 overtime win. Payton Fobes scored twice in the win for the Titans, which included the OT-winner. The Titans led 2-0 early in the 1st period with goals from William Fliss and Fobes. Bay State fought back to tie the game at 2-2 in the 2nd period with goals from Landon Schoonover and Jordan Griffin. Fobes then ended the game with just under two minutes left in the extra frame. Jake Agoglia made 28 saves in the win, while Jacob King made 31 saves in the loss.
