Lumberjacks win West with shutout on Wednesday

Minnesota 0 @ Granite City 6 – The Granite City Lumberjacks claimed their second straight NA3HL West Division regular season title as they shutout the Minnesota Loons on Wednesday, 6-0. Forward Hayden Johnson had a hat-trick and goalie Ryan Lehet stopped all 13 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season. The game was over early as Granite City struck for four goals in the 1st period, including one from Johnson and others from Kyle Mortenson, Parker Mitchell, and Luke Delzer. Johnson would score again in the 2nd period to make it 5-0 and once more in the 3rd period to complete the hat-trick and 6-0 win. Loons goalie Matthew Ryynanen made 42 saves in the loss.

Danbury 5 @ Bay State 6 – The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead and hung on for a 6-5 win over Danbury on Wednesday. Landon Schoonover, who scored twice in the contest, got the scoring started for the Bobcats in the 1st period. Other goals from Leonard Litwin, Nazar Zykau, and Paul Johnson put Bay State ahead, 4-0. Danbury closed the gap to 4-2 with goals from Roman Winicki and Jack Klunk, but Bay State went up 5-2 on another goal from Schoonover. Danbury would then score three of the next four goals as Nick Rogers, Denis Radchenko, and Brody Trew scored, but a goal from Zack O’Neil would prove to be the difference and game-winner for the Bobcats in the 3rd period. Jacob King made 39 saves in the win.
