Canton Cubs name McInnis as new Head Coach/GM

May 30, 2019
The Canton Cubs of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that the organization has signed former professional hockey player Johnny McInnis to be the team’s head coach and general manager.

McInnis currently resides in Hanover, Massachusetts and will be joining the Cubs following his fifth season in the ECHL with the Maine Mariners.

Prior to that he played NCAA Division I hockey for Minnesota State Mankato and before that played hockey for Lawrence Academy and Plymouth South High School.

“We are extremely happy to have a head coach and general manager that is such a quality person with exceptional hockey experience and knowledge as a player, scout and coach. We believe that as a product of local Massachusetts hockey programs, Johnny also bring a knowledge and understanding of the hockey landscape in the region that will separate us from other programs,” said the Cubs’ Chief Operating Officer, Scott Hogan.

McInnis also currently serves as an NAHL scout and is the owner of Shots Hockey Academy out of Quincy, Massachusetts and is a co-owner of Mass Mavericks Selects.

“Johnny will be serving as the Cubs first head coach and general manager, and we are very happy to welcome Johnny into the Cubs family,” said Hogan.
