Sunday Wrap-Up: Brahmas Finish Season Opening Sweep

Texas R 9 @ Atlanta 0 - The Texas Roadrunners had a dominant road performance, winning two of three against the Atlanta Capitals this weekend. In Sunday's match up, Carson Spear opened the scoring for the Roadrunners just under four minutes into the first. Spear added one more goal and three assists during the game, earning him a total of 11 points in three games. With 20 seconds left in the 1st, Skylar Bawcom of the Roadrunners scored his first of three goals. He also racked up two assists. Kyle Mackintosh launched a scoring frenzy halfway through the second period. His second goal of the night came only four minutes later, with goals from Zachary Barlow and Bawcom in between, prompting a goalie change for the Capitals. Bawcom’s power play goal early in the third earned him a hat trick. Spear’s power play goal and Noble Cook’s short-handed goal sealed the fate of the Capitals. Cook also had an impressive five assists on the night. The Roadrunners goaltender, Hunter Houle, made 29 saves and had his first shutout of the season.
Tulsa 1 @ Austin 9 - The Austin Ice Bats outplayed the Tulsa Jr. Oilers to pick up their third win of the weekend at home. Arys Perardi opened the scoring for the Ice Bats at 7:45 in the first period followed by his teammate Ashton Morin’s power play goal a minute and a half later. Taras Korotchenko concluded the scoring in the first giving the Ice Bats a 3-0 lead. Six minutes into the second period, the Ice Bat’s George Tokarskll added to the scoreboard. Tokarskll had an incredible night with a hat trick and two assists. Mikhail Levaniue of the Ice Bats scored his second goal of the season at 9:25 in the second making the score 5-0. Kolin Krizan, who came to Tulsa after a recent trade with the Helena Bighorns, attempted to turn things around for the Oilers with a goal early in the third, but the Ice Bats did not back down. Dakota Sulvillan, Noah Howden-Rich, and Tokarskll each scored in the 3rd bringing the final score to 9-1 and securing an at home sweep for the Ice Bats.
Maine 3 @ Long Beach 1 - The Maine Nordiques faced off against the Long Beach Sharks at Long Beach Municipal Arena on Sunday night. The Nordiques struck first midway through the 1st period when Brody Edmond scored his first goal of the season. Later in the 1st, Trenton Impens of the Nordiques scored a one timer on a five-on-three with a beautiful pass from Edmond. The second period was scoreless. The Sharks put up a goal early in the 3rd period when Mason White capitalized on a Nordique turnover. In an attempt to tie the game, the Sharks pulled their goalie with a minute and a half remaining, but the Nordiques’ Cooper Boulay scored an empty net goal securing the Nordiques’ 3-1 win. The Nordiques’ goaltender Ayden Linville picked up his first NA3HL win stopping 43 of the 44 shots he faced.
New Mexico 0 @ Louisiana 3 - The Louisiana Drillers were victorious against the New Mexico Wolves on Sunday night. The first period was scoreless, but midway through the second, Jake Bergrstorm of the Drillers scored a power play goal to put the Drillers ahead 1-0. The second goal of the night came nine minutes into the third period when the Driller’s Brendan Johnson passed to Brody Neish who then passed back to Johnson for a wide-open net goal. Neish scored the final goal of the game and earned his third point of the night with an empty netter. Finn Wilson had his first shutout in eight career games with the Drillers.
Texas B 3 @ El Paso 0 - The Texas Brahmas defeated the El Paso Rhinos 3-0 to secure a three game weekend sweep. The game began with a scoreless first period. Late in the second, a Brahmas’ power play goal by Joseph Crawley made the score 1-0 heading into the third period. Midway through the third, Kayden Jones of the Bahamas added to the scoreboard with a quick one-timer on the power play. Chase Forry hit the empty net to help the Brahmas earn another win on the road. Forry, Jones, and Nikolai Meshkantsov all had two assists. Luke Romney had his second career NA3HL shutout with 24 saves.
