Hawks Goaltender Simon makes NCAA Commitment

The Sheridan Hawks of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that goaltender John Simon has committed to play NCAA DII hockey for Post University..

Simon, 20, played two seasons in the NA3HL, primarily with the Sheridan Hawks. Over those two years, the Fargo, ND native appeared in 36 games, recording a 14-17-2 record, a .927 save percentage, and a 2.81 goals against average.

In his final junior hockey season, Simon had a standout year, finishing with an 11-8 record and playing a key role in the Hawks' playoff push. Among his 11 victories, he recorded three shutouts, including a remarkable 41-save performance on September 13th, when the Hawks defeated the Gillette Wild 3-0. Throughout the season, Simon faced numerous challenges, playing in nine games where he made over 35 saves, showcasing his resilience and skill between the pipes.

“We relied on John all season, he was our rock in net during some big situations. We knew John was going to play college hockey somewhere—it was just a matter of where,” stated Hawks Head Coach JJ Santagata. “His size, focus, and mental resilience allowed our team to be successful this year in front of him. We knew what we were going to get from him every night, and he did an unbelievable job for us this season. We are thrilled to see John take these next steps and join two former Hawks players at Post!”

Simon is one of four players from the Hawks to make a college commitment this season.
