Blizzard forward Olson makes NCAA Commitment

The Alexandria Blizzard of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that forward Markus Olson has committed to play NCAA DIII hockey for the newly established program at Hiram College.
Olson, 19, spent his entire junior hockey career with the Alexandria Blizzard, appearing in 99 games over two seasons. The Fosston, MN native tallied 67 points (35 goals, 33 assists) during his NA3HL tenure, with a standout 2024-25 campaign accounting for 42 of those points.
Taking a look back at this season, Olson had a four game points streak in December/January with two of the four games being in Blaine, MN at the NA3HL Showcase. During this four game span, Olson racked up nine points, including an impressive performance against the Northeast Generals as he not only scored a powerplay goal, but also dished out two assists.
“We’re incredibly proud of Markus and his commitment to play at the NCAA Division III level. He has grown tremendously as both a player and a person, demonstrating the dedication and drive it takes to succeed. Markus has learned what it means to win at a high level, and we’re excited to watch him continue his hockey journey and achieve success at the next level,” stated Blizzard Head Coach Jeff Crouse.
Prior to his junior career, Olson played in the NAPHL FALL League for two seasons with the Minnesota Wilderness at both the 16U and 18U levels.
Olson is one of three players from the Blizzard to make a college commitment this season.
