Toros defenseman Menne makes NCAA Commitment

The Mason City Toros of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that defenseman Sam Menne has committed to play NCAA DIII hockey for Hamline University.
Menne, 20, is returning to his home state of Minnesota this fall, set to join the Pipers after two seasons in Iowa with the Mason City Toros. The Lino Lakes native suited up in 92 games for the Toros, recording 69 points from the blue line with 12 goals and 57 assists.
As Mason City’s top-scoring defenseman, Menne notched eight multi-point games during the 2024-25 camapign. His standout performance came during the weekend of January 3, when he racked up five points, one goal and four assists, as the Toros swept the St. Louis Jr. Blues.
Thanks to his consistent offensive production and strong play on the back end, Menne earned a spot in the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament, representing Mason City on a big stage.
“We couldn’t be prouder of Sam and everything he’s accomplished during his time with the Toros,” said Mason City Head Coach Alex North. “Although I haven’t been Sam’s head coach for the past two seasons, I’ve had the privilege of watching his development firsthand, and it’s been nothing short of remarkable. He’s brought consistency, leadership, and a high hockey IQ to our defensive core. On and off the ice, Sam has been a true professional: dedicated, driven, and always willing to put in the work. Hamline is getting not only a great player but an outstanding young man. We’re excited to watch him thrive at the next level.”
Menne is the first player from the Toros to make a college commitment this season.
