Grizzlies defenseman Parent makes NCAA Commitment

The Rochester Grizzlies of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that defenseman Ben Parent has committed to play NCAA DIII hockey for Saint Mary’s University. 

Parent, 21, wrapped up his junior hockey career with the Rochester Grizzlies, marking his second season in the NA3HL. Prior to joining Rochester for the 2024-25 campaign, he played with the Oregon Tradesmen. Over the course of 105 games in the league, the ‘04 defenseman recorded 63 points (12 goals, 51 assists).

From his first year with Oregon to his final season with Rochester, Parent demonstrated steady development, improving his point total by 11 from year one to year two. He led all Grizzlies defensemen in scoring during his age-out season, posting 37 points.

One of his standout performances came on January 17th in a dramatic 5-4 overtime win against the St. Louis Jr. Blues. With Rochester trailing 3-0, Parent sparked the comeback by netting the team's first goal. He later assisted on both the game-tying and game-winning goals, playing a crucial role in the victory.

A consistent and dependable presence on the blue line, Parent was selected to participate in the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in both 2023 and 2025.

“Benny was a kid we have known for a couple years since he played in Oregon. We acquired his rights via trade while he was with the Cyclones and we’re happy it came to fruition this past season,” stated Grizzlies’ Head Coach Tyler Veen. “He was a quiet, steady leader for us both on and off the ice this season. He drove the offense from the backend and had success every night. Looking forward to this new opportunity for him! He’s earned it and will succeed in every aspect!”

Parent is one of six players from the Grizzlies to make a college commitment this season.
