Drillers Assistant Captain Bergstrom makes NCAA Commitment

The Louisiana Drillers of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that Assistant Captain Jake Bergstrom has committed to play NCAA DIII hockey for Hamline University. 

Bergstrom, 20, is heading back to his home state of Minnesota to join the Pipes for the upcoming fall season. The Buffalo native spent the past two years in Lafayette with the Drillers, appearing in 105 games. A key offensive force for Louisiana, he averaged over a point per game, racking up 138 career points (56 goals, 82 assists).

During the 2024–25 season, Bergstrom posted an impressive 72 points, including 16 multi-point games, 4 game-winning goals, and a standout plus-minus rating of +52. His best weekend of the regular season came in mid-October, when the Drillers swept a three-game series against the Atlanta Capitals. Bergstrom was dominant, collecting nine points across the series, including a four-point performance in Game 2 with two goals and two assists.

His strong and consistent play earned him a spot in the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament, where he represented Mason City on a national stage. Competing for Team Yellow, he added a goal and three assists to his resume.

His dedication, both on and off the ice, was second to none, and he truly set the standard for what it means to be a Driller,” stated Drillers’ Head Coach Chris Francis. “Jake was a key leader in our locker room and played an instrumental role in helping us bring home our first Fraser Cup title. We’re incredibly proud of him and excited to see what he does at the next level."

Bergstrom is one of three players from the Drillers to make a college commitment this season.
