Saturday Scores: Mason City Steals the Show in Shootout Win Over Granite City

West Bend 5 @ St. Louis 1 - The West Bend Power traveled to the St Louis Jr Blues for a Saturday night matchup. The Power struck first with two short-handed goals in the first four minutes of play by Danny Jurcich and Adam Sexton. The Jr Blues would respond on a goal by August Feldker half way through the first. In the second, Elias Holan of the Power scored two goals for the 4-1 lead with one coming on the powerplay. The Power would add another on the powerplay with just 15 seconds left in the second. The third period saw no scoring. Power goaltender, Sam Ahl, posted a 0.958 save percentage saving 23 of 24 shots on goal. The Power take this one 5-1.
Wausau 1 @ Wisconsin 6 - The Wausau Cyclones traveled to the Wisconsin Woodsmen for a Saturday night matchup. In the first it was a quiet one as there was no scoring. In the second, Nolan Mix would break through two minutes in for the Woodsmen. Four minutes later Anthony Moorehead would add to the lead to make it 2-0. Additionally,Tyler Osborne would strike for the Woodsmen two minutes later. In the third, Mix would strike for the second time for the Woodsmen. A minute later, Osborne joined the two goal club on a short-handed goal to give the Woodsmen a 5-0 lead. The Cyclones would crush any hopes of a shutout with a power play goal by Joel Anderson with just two minutes left. The Woodsmen would add one more with a minute left in game by Micah Sieben to seal the win, 6-1.
Mason City 2 @ Granite City 1 (SO) - The Mason City Toros earned a hard-fought 2–1 shootout victory over the Granite City Lumberjacks in a tightly contested matchup that featured strong goaltending and long scoreless stretches. The opening period set the tone for the night, as both teams traded chances but were unable to break through. Despite Granite City generating steady pressure and outshooting Mason City early, the game remained scoreless heading into the second period. Mason City struck first late in the second period to grab the lead. Christian Plaga opened the scoring, finishing a play set up by Luke Gustafson to give the Toros a 1–0 advantage and swing momentum heading into the intermission. Granite City answered early in the third period, finally solving the Mason City netminder to even the score. Emmett Reiter found the back of the net for the Lumberjacks, converting a chance created by Jackson Engberg and Alexander Zelazowski to tie the game at 1–1. The remainder of regulation saw both teams push for a go-ahead goal, but neither side could capitalize despite Granite City holding the edge in shots. Overtime followed a similar script, with chances at both ends but no scoring, sending the game to a shootout. In the shootout, Mason City proved to be the difference, converting the lone deciding attempt to secure the 2–1 win. With a resilient defensive effort and timely scoring, the Toros outlasted the Lumberjacks and came away with a valuable road victory in a tightly played contest.
