Prowlers Captain Hunter makes college commitment
The Pelham Prowlers of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that Captain Matthew Hunter has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for West Virginia University.
Hunter, 19, has been a driving force for Pelham in the organization’s first season in the NA3HL, serving as team captain and leading the charge offensively. Through 34 games, the ‘06 forward is averaging an impressive 1.53 points per game, totaling 52 points (30 goals, 22 assists).
He has recorded 14 multi-point performances this season, including 10 games with three or more points, a testament to his ability to consistently take over games.
One early statement stretch came in late September when the Prowlers faced the Rougarou for the first time in organization history during their third series of the season. Hunter wasted no time making it memorable. Over the course of the matchup, he erupted for 10 total points, highlighted by back-to-back hat tricks as Pelham completed the sweep.
Hunter is one of two Prowlers to commit to play college hockey this season, and the first in program history to take that step.
