Hawks Assistant Captain Leaf makes college commitment

The Sheridan Hawks of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that Assistant Captain Vincent Leaf has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for Adrian College.  

Leaf, 20, is skating in his final season of junior hockey with the Sheridan Hawks, marking his second year in the NA3HL. Since arriving in Sheridan, the ‘05 forward has made an immediate and lasting impact, playing a key role in the program’s continued success.

Through 86 career games, the Des Moines, Iowa native has been a dynamic offensive presence, averaging an impressive 1.73 points per game while totaling 145 points (63 goals, 82 assists).

During the 2024-25 campaign, Leaf finished second overall in team scoring and ranked fourth among the league’s top scorers. His standout rookie season earned him recognition on both the All-Rookie Team and the All-Frontier Division Team.

This year, he has only elevated his game further. Serving as an Assistant Captain, Leaf currently leads the Hawks in scoring with 68 points (29 goals, 39 assists) through 41 games. He has recorded 20 multi-point performances this season, including a statement outing on January 2 when Sheridan defeated Bozeman 7-2. In that matchup, Leaf erupted for four goals, single-handedly powering the Hawks to victory.

A staple in Sheridan’s lineup, Leaf was also selected to represent the Hawks at both the 2025 and 2026 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournaments, further solidifying his status as one of the league’s premier offensive talents.

Hawks Head Coach JJ Santagata believes Leaf’s growth and impact over the past two seasons made this next step inevitable: “Vince has cemented himself as a top player in this league since he came into the league last season. His IQ, awareness and ability to score makes him a threat in any situation in any game. His game has really rounded out, he has become an extremely vocal leader, a competitor who wants to win every game and holds himself to a high standard each day. Seeing Vince make this commitment is no surprise to myself or anyone for that matter, Adrian is getting one heck of a hockey player and a great human being as well. We wish Vince the best of luck and look forward to seeing him and Adrian compete for a national title every season!”

Leaf is the second player from the Hawks to make a college commitment this season.
