Mason City Goaltender Kamp Makes College Commitment

The Mason City Toros of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that goaltender Jannes Kamp has committed to play NCAA Division III college hockey for the University of St. Joseph (West Hartford, Connecticut).

Over the last season in the NA3HL the Bloomington, Minnesota native has been a reliable backstop for two teams. Starting the season in Granite City, Kamp played in 13 games and had a .929 SV%. He also recorded two shutouts.

To finish the season, Kamp played for the Mason City Toros and was a solid piece for the team. Playing in eight regular season games, Kamp had a stellar .917 SV% and a 3-3-0 record. 

“Jannes joined our program at a critical point in the season and quickly became an important part of our push toward the Fraser Cup Playoffs. He brought valuable experience, a strong work ethic, and a team-first mindset that immediately elevated the group,” said Mason City Toros Head Coach Alex North. “His professionalism and commitment to improvement left a lasting mark on our program in a short amount of time. I’m excited to see what Jannes accomplishes with this well-deserved opportunity and have no doubt he will continue to make a positive impact at the next level.”

Kamp’s best performance of the season came against the Willmar Warhawks on Feb. 14. In that game the netminder stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced and led his team to a 7-1 victory on the road.

Kamp is one of six players from the Mason City Toros to make a college commitment this season.
