Prowlers Forward Derksen Makes College Commitment

The Pelham Prowlers of the North American 3 Hockey League are proud to announce that forward Marlon Derksen has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for West Virginia University (Morgantown, West Virginia).

The German native had a successful season with the Prowlers. He led his team in goals, points and assists, cementing his presence as a leader on the team. His immediate offensive was evident as he recorded 78 points throughout the season, including 41 goals and 37 assists. 

His 41 goals left him ranked 9th among all forwards in the NA3HL. He averaged 1.89 goals per game across 41 games.

“From a random phone call received last season from Germany, to our leading scoring in our inaugural season.  I am pleased to see Marlon continuing his growth and development with WVU,” said Prowlers Head Coach Kevin Kerr. “Finishing his degree was his goal when he came to us and I'm pleased that West Virginia is providing him with this opportunity.”

His best performance this season was on Sep. 27 against the Bayou State Rougarou. He had six total points, consisting of two goals and four assists to aid the Prowlers in a 9-3 victory.

Derksen is one of five players from the Pelham Prowlers to make a college commitment this season.
