NAHL alum wins first NHL start

New York Islanders goaltender Peter Mannino, who played two seasons in the NAHL, won his first NHL start after making 40 saves in a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on March 15.
Mannino, from Farmington Hills, Mich., played for the NAHL’s defunct Pittsburgh Forge from 2001-03. He played four years at the University of Denver before beginning his professional career this season.
