Friday Finals: North Stars pick up second win

Minnesota Flying Aces 4 @ Breezy Point North Stars 6: The Breezy Point North Stars picked up their second win in two meetings over the Minnesota Flying Aces winning at home 6-4. The North Stars scored all of their goals in the final two periods with Russel Barone leading the way with a goal and two assists to lead the offensive charge for Breezy Point. Sugar Land Imperials 6 @ Dallas Jr. Stars 3: The NA3HL South division got underway as the Sugar Land Imperials made their way down to Dallas and beat the Jr. Stars 5-3. Avik Bordak led the Imperials attack scoring a four points with two goals and two assists to match. The Stars put up a good comeback effort after being down two goals to start the final frame as Maxim Ledaykin and Brandon Salisbury converted to start the third before Bordak scored twice and assisted on Tucker Spooners goal to close out the game for the Imperials. Granite City Lumberjacks 8 @ Twin City Steel 1: The Granite City Lumberjacks continue their hot start winning their fifth game of the year 8-1 over the Twin City Steel. Aiden Verbeke added to his team leading point total with two more goal tallies tonight and was aided by Aaron Storch who added a goal and two assists to the Lumberjacks offense. Cory Johnson picked up the goal for Twin City as the Steel jumped out to an early first period lead before Granite City exploded for eight unanswered goals. Boxscore
Toledo Cherokee 4 @ Metro Jets 2: Brett Podgorski scored an empty net goal in the final minute of the third period to complete the hat trick and seal the victory for his Toledo Cherokee 4-2 over the Metro Jets. Zach MacKay assisted on both Metro goals and Jets goaltender Kameron Limburg made 20 saves but it wasn’t enough to top Podgorski and the Cherokee. Clay Horvath was in net for the winning squad stopping 27 Metro Jet shots. Boxscore
Pittsburgh Vengeance 2 @ Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 5: Jared Johnson scored twice in a 5-2 victory for the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks over the visiting Pittsburgh Vengeance. Mike Palasics, who dished out three assists on the night, complemented Johnson. Tom Diffendal, who continued his point per game pace with a goal and an assist in the contest, once again ignited the Vengeance offense. Joseph Moza was spectacular in net for the Jr. Lumberjacks stopping 32 shots. Boxscore
