Southern Tier Xpress announce coaching staff

May 21, 2014
The Southern Tier Xpress, proud member of the NA3HL, who will be playing out of the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena (JSBA), has announced the coaching staff for its inaugural season.

Rylan Galiardi will serve as Head Coach and Seth Wolfe will assume the role as Associate Head Coach.

Head coach Rylan Galiardi brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and experience that will be very beneficial to the student athletes who make the Xpress final roster. Rylan obtained a bachelor’s degree in sports management with a minor in business law (graduating Magna Cum Laude) from Minnesota State University (MSU), Mankato.  In 2011, he was named the MSU Student-Athlete of the year while serving as team captain. Galiardi was also named to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) All-Academic Team three times and a two time WCHA Scholar Athlete Award Winner. Rylan’s playing career includes stints in NHL training camps, the AHL, ECHL (winning a league championship) and professionally in Europe.

“I am very thankful and excited for this opportunity,” said coach Galiardi. “There are some special people in this organization that I look forward to working with. I believe we can create an excellent program that the community will be proud of.”

Associate Head coach Seth Wolfe also has a remarkable hockey background. He established Proficient Hockey in 2014 to help players of all positions surpass their hockey goals and has served as head coach at Proficient Goaltending.  He was also assistant coach and goalie coach for the former Jamestown Ironmen of the NAHL as well for a number of youth hockey organizations. Seth’s junior hockey career started in Pittsburgh at the age of 15 and carried him to Junior A leagues in the US and Canada and into NCAA D3 hockey.

“I appreciate the opportunity ahead of us and look forward to working with an elite management and coaching staff at a world class Arena,” said Wolfe. “It is a great chance to contribute to the development and success of junior hockey in Jamestown and the impact we will have on the community.”

“We are excited to have found two coaches with such knowledge, experience, and drive to impact not only the team but also the community,” said Brian Cersosimo, General Manager of the JSBA, who also serves as GM for the Xpress. “We are looking forward to a great hockey season from not only an on ice stand point but also in the development of the student-athletes and our entire organization’s involvement in the community.”

Jim Cirbus, President of JAHA, LLC, the ownership group of the Xpress, states, “On behalf of the JAHA,LLC, we as a group are delighted with the selection of Rylan and Seth. Their collective experience in the game of hockey is a tremendous asset to the Southern Tier Xpress and they will serve as excellent role models as our team develops as players and young men.”
