Wild's Jaeger named Sherbook Goalie of the Month

February 7, 2010

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced that Wenatchee Wild goaltender Brandon Jaeger has been named the Sherbrook Hockey Goaltender of the Month for January.

Jaeger, a 19-year-old from Champlin, Minn., fashioned a 3-1 record during the month, including a 20-save shutout performance in a 6-0 victory over the Alaska Avalanche on Jan. 30, to compliment a 1.00 goals-against average and a .969 save percentage.

“Brandon has been solid for us all season,” said Wild associate head coach Ryan McKelvie.  “He’s a very skilled goaltender who understands how prepare."

On the year, Jaeger, who played in last month's Sherwood/NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, leads the league in goals-against average (1.80) and save percentage (.935) to go along with a 14-2-1 record in 19 appearances for the West Division-leading Wild.

Last season, Jaeger, who was named the Sherbrook Hockey Goaltender of the Month for September/October, helped Russell Stover’s Midget Major (U18) team to an appearance in the USA Hockey National Championships.

"He gives his team a chance to win every night, and he should be a very good goaltender at the Division I level," McKelvie added.
