Friday Finals: Jets on cusp of East title with win in Toledo

Metro 5 @ Toledo 2 -  Despite having to fight off several power plays, Metro was able to defeat Toledo, 5-2. Metro was led by Jacob Drinkard, who had one goal and one assist. Drinkard scored 11:39 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Metro. Cam Schwartz picked up the assist. Metro kept Toledo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cody Gibson made 29 saves on 34 shots. Metro also got points from Schwartz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Mathias Tellstrom also scored for Metro. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Kevin Shand, who had two and Stefan Boskovic, Pearce Vance, Michael Tratar, Chase Sereno, and Graham Day, who contributed one each. Toledo was helped by Josh Somers, who tallied one goal and one assist. Somers scored on the power play 16:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Isaiah Crawford provided the assist. Twin City scored the game winner at 10:30 in the third period on a goal by Kreuser. Kreuser was all over the ice for Twin City, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Kreuser scored the first of his two goals at 1:42 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Yannick Zehnder assisted on the tally. Kreuser's next tally made the score 3-3 with 11:48 left in the third period. Zehnder picked up the assist. Alexandria was helped by Louis Gerzin, who registered one goal. Granite City was sparked by Mros, who racked up one goal and one assist. Mros scored 53 seconds into overtime to make the score 4-3 Granite City. Tanner Skaja provided the assist. Granite City also got points from Tommy Hall, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Granite City included Spencer Zwiener and Mathew Sprink, who each put in one. In addition, Granite City received assists from Casey Esselman and Adam Marty, who contributed two each. Breezy Point was helped by Seyia Hayata, who tallied one goal. Hayata scored on the power play 2:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Breezy Point. Tyler Larwood picked up the assist. Great Falls additionally got points from Kyle Johnson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Tanner Congdon, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Brendan Jester, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Great Falls also got a goal from Tyler Garcia as well. In addition, Great Falls received assists from Stevan Goran, Reed Link, Josh Larson, and Malachi Bushey, who each chipped in one. Billings was led by Chris Nicolai, who scored the team's only goal. Nicolai scored 10:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Billings. Zach Heiser picked up the assist. Bozeman 6 @ Helena 2 - Gunnar Mogck was all over the ice for Bozeman, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Bozeman's 6-2 win over Helena. Mogck scored on the power play at 18:51 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Bozeman and again while 6:46 into the third to make the score 5-2 Bozeman. Atlanta 5 @ Evansville 2 - Atlanta beat Evansville, 5-2. Atlanta's offense rang up 48 shots on Evansville's net. Atlanta's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Atlanta was helped by Jesse Brown, who had one goal. Brown scored 18:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Atlanta. Jack Cleaver provided the assist. Atlanta additionally got points from Drew Kelly, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Arturas Laukaitis, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Yellowstone was paced by Max Doner, who tallied one goal and one assist. Doner scored 15:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Yellowstone. Mason Stewart picked up the assist. Yellowstone also had goals scored by Nicholas Elliot and Tanner Knudson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Cosimo Yapello, Curtis Greenbush, and Tony Dahlberg, who contributed one each. Matz rejected 34 shots on goal for Yellowstone. Alex Feese made 41 saves for Gillette on 44 shots.

Peoria 4 @ St. Louis 5 (SO) - Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as St. Louis defeated Peoria in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO). St. Louis got the win behind a great game by Kyler Chartier, who had two goals and one assist. Chartier scored the first of his two goals at 2:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis. Chris Brown assisted on the tally. Chartier's next tally made the score 4-3 St. Louis with 19:43 left in the third period. Cameron McAtee picked up the assist. St. Louis also had goals scored by Tomas Loeffelman and Alex Werdmuller, who scored one goal each. More assists for St. Louis came via Joe Nolan, who had one. Peoria forced St. Louis goalie Zach Young to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Peoria was led by Jason Hoehn, who tallied three goals. Anthony Iacullo also scored for Peoria. Southern Tier 2 @ Wooster 4 - In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Wooster escaped with a 4-2 victory over Southern Tier. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Noah Keener's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Wooster was paced by Keener, who racked up one goal. Keener scored 19:14 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Wooster. Nick Tobey assisted on the tally. Wooster also had goals scored by Brad Sneed, Mike Zenone, and Tyler Houmard, who scored one goal each. In addition, Wooster received assists from Nick Mooney and Christian Miller, who contributed one each. Southern Tier was helped by Jacob St. Andre, who had one goal. St. Andre scored on the power play 11:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Devin Laird provided the assist. Southern Tier also got a goal from Brad Delenko as well.
