The Toledo Cherokee of the NA3HL are proud to announce that defenseman Nick Papandrea has committed to play ACHA Division I hockey for the Indiana Tech Warrior men's ice hockey program for the 2016-17 season.
Papandrea (5’11/185) suited up in 29 games for the Cherokee scoring five goals and adding ten assists for fifteen points.
“Nick came to us mid-season through a trade and made a great impact on our defensive corps, he came in and played in all situations and was a big reason for our success last season,” said head coach Kenny Miller
A native of Chesterfield, Michigan, he is the son of Tom and Mary Jo Papandrea. The Anchor Bay High School graduate is undecided on his college major.
“I am very happy for Nick and his family he talked about going to school from the minute he got here and I am glad he will get to continue to play hockey while getting a great education,” added Miller
Papandrea had this to say about his commitment to Indiana Tech University.
"I choose Indiana Tech because it was a great fit," Papandrea said. "My goal is to help the Warriors compete for a National Championship."
The Warriors are an ACHA DI program that competes in the GLCHL.
Papandrea joins, David Bogart, Austin Turner and Josh Somers as members of the 2015-2016 team to commit to play college hockey next season.
