Cape Cod forward Deady makes NCAA commitment

January 5, 2017
The Cape Cod Islanders of the NA3HL are proud to announce that forward Aaron Deady has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Becker College as a member of the class of 2021.

Deady, a 6'0/180 lbs. left wing from West Greenwich, Rhode Island is in his second season with the Islanders. Last season he had a commitment from Franklin Pierce University and decided to return to the Cape in order to play his final junior season.

“We are so excited for Aaron to get this opportunity to get a great education at Becker and to continue his hockey career,” head coach Jay Punsky said. “When Aaron indicated that he wanted to come back this season, we knew it was a risk for him, but he has played so well and truly has earned this chance through his play.”

The entire Becker College coaching staff has seen Aaron play in person, but it was when head coach Michael Chartrand was in attendance that Deady shined brightest. The Islanders were playing the Northeast Generals in a tightly contested game that went back and forth and ended up going into overtime. That’s when Deady took over and ended the game on the power play off a rebound of a Chuck Costello shot.

“We are happy that Aaron chose Becker to continue his education and hockey career. He has a great work ethic and will be a welcome addition in our locker room next fall,” coach Chartrand said.

This season Deady has played in 26 games and has registered 10 goals 16 assists for 26 points.
