December 14, 2017
The Pittsburgh Vengeance of the NA3HL are proud to announce that goaltender Joel De Simone has been called up to the United States Hockey League (USHL) by the Youngstown Phantoms.
De Simone, 19, is a native of Noville, Switzerland, and is 5-2 for Pittsburgh with a 1.99 goals against average and 93.4% save percentage on the season.
De Simone (6’1/175) has also spent time with the Johnstown Tomahawks in the NAHL this season.
"This is a great opportunity for Joel and the experience will only make him better in the long run," said Vengeance Head Coach and General Manager David Dorsey.
De Simone played in the 2017 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament last February for the Green team. He also spent some time with the then Aston Rebels in the NAHL.
He helped the Vengeance to the East Division Finals last season, posting a 3-1 record and pushed the Metro Jets to three games in the Finals. He finished the playoffs with a 95.3% save percentage, which was 2nd among all NA3HL goalies.
