NA3HL announces Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey

January 4, 2019

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending December 31, 2018. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the six divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

Central Division Star of the Week: Matthew Monreal, F, St. Louis Jr. Blues

The Blues toppled Wausau with relative ease on the 30th, and Monreal accounted in some fashion for nearly half of St. Louis’ seven strikes. The forward bagged two goals and a helper on the night, helping his side extend their lead atop the Central Division with the rout. Monreal now boasts points in eight straight outings, including five goals in his last two games.

2nd Star: Jaden Gardner, G, Peoria Mustangs

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Will Baginski, F, St. Louis Jr. Blues — Connor Bennett, F, Peoria Mustangs

Coastal Division Star of the Week: No Games Played

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Payton McSharry, F, Great Falls Americans

McSharry erupted in Great Falls’ three games in the final week of 2018, posting 7-5—12 in that span to lead the Americans to victories in each contest. The Anchorage, AK native started off the set of fixtures with a goal and an assist in a tight 4-3 win over Bozeman, then doubled his production the next day with 2g, 2a against Butte. McSharry’s crowning moment(s) came against Missoula on New Year’s Eve, as he notched four goals and two assists in a 10-3 romp past the Bruins. After being held off the scoresheet in the opening two games of the Showcase, McSharry has put up 14 points on his current four-game streak.

2nd Star: Mikael Levokari, G, Bozeman Icedogs

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Cody Dearing, F, Great Falls Americans — Jack Harris, F, Yellowstone Quake — Elliot Plourde, F, Helena Bighorns — Trevor Prince, F, Missoula Jr. Bruins — Dylan Rumpke, F, Yellowstone Quake — Carver Thompson, G, Helena Bighorns — Vadim Zubkov, F, Missoula Jr. Bruins

Northeast Division Star of the Week: No Games Played

South Division Star of the Week: No Games Played

West Division Star of the Week: Tom Nagle, D, Granite City Lumberjacks

Top-ranked Granite City flexed its muscle in one game last week, dropping the Blizzard 7-1 on New Year’s Eve. Nagle led from the blue line in the contest, posting a goal and three assists to lead all skaters in the contest and end a personal three-game pointless drought. Nagle’s tally came on the power play — just his third goal with the man-advantage this season. The outburst also helped the blueliner reach a point-per-game pace for the season, now boasting 23 points in as many games.

2nd Star: Dysen Skinner, G, North Iowa Bulls

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Hunter Schwehr, F, Granite City Lumberjacks — Peter Verstegen, F, North Iowa Bulls
